| " Red Roses for a Blue Lady " |
"Red Roses for a Blue Lady" was inspired by the sudden passing of a friend and artist , Lee Taylor, in 2006. Later that year 3 other women in their 40's had untimely sudden passings. This print is in remembrance of and reverence for ALL women who struggle in this life. Notice the tiny silhouettes of women and girls of all ages, wandering through the garden of roses. The background is a mix of acrylic and watercolor, in every shade of blue imaginable, with a fine misty sheen of translucent pearlescent paint.which gives the piece an ethereal quality. | Blue Ridge Nights |
Have you ever driven over Afton Mountain on interstate 64? Taken a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway? This print is an interpretation of our beautiful blue ridge mountains here in Virginia. The mountains were made out of hundreds of coleus leafs. The trees are different varieties of artimesias. The sky is watercolor. The clouds are cotton. And the moon is a Poppy! | Double Standard |
I have always been intrigued with the art of topiary. The vase and the stem were painted on first. Then I applied the Ivy to form the topiary. A “Standard” is another word for Topiary. | Field of Dreams |
The first limited edition print made of my work, was a re-creation of my wild flower garden. I would spend hours sitting in my garden enjoying the natural beauty of the flowers, butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. It was my refuge and I wanted to share it with others. | Flowers at Maymont |
This print was created using plant material collected from the Japanese garden at Maymont in Richmond, Va. Maymont is a beautiful 100-acre park like setting overlooking the James River. I called and asked permission to take cuttings from their gardens and much to my surprise they said yes! I was very much intrigued with the Japanese garden there. This print is a result of the collecting done in that garden. It features many unusual ferns and an array of Japanese maples; gingko's, leafs and grasses. | Glorious Morning |
This piece was of course made of morning glories. Each flower, leaf, and piece of vine was preserved separately and then the design was created. The print can be hung either horizontally and vertically. Edition Size: 600 s/n Size: 12" x 36" Price: $40.00 |
| Going Home |
This print is my newest release, Jan. 2004. The background of this piece is watercolor. To me, the darkness rising into varying lighter shades represents the 'Landscape of our lives'. A late artist friend of mine made the moon and stars out of copper. (Chuck Gould) The plant material used gives a light and airy feel. The columbine lift off to the sky, as spirits might, as they are 'going home'. This print is in memory of my sister Kim and my friend Chuck. Edition Size: 500 Size: 16" x 20" Price: $30.00 |
| My Mother's Heaven |
'Mothers Heaven' is my newest release. It is in memory of my Mom, Delpha Jensen, who passed on suddenly on Nov. 6th, 2004. I spoke with her on Nov. 5th and she told me her yellow roses were still in bloom. She loved yellow roses so. At her memorial service it was filled with arrangements of thousands of yellow roses. I brought every one of the arrangements back to Charlottesville and spent 2 weeks preserving every flower. In January 2005, I created this piece. (With the help of Mom) The background is a mixture of different paints in shades of sage green, apricot, and blues. The flowers are,of course ,yellow roses (the open one came from Moms garden), alstromeria, carnations, snapdragons, and babies breath. This print is a tribute to every Mother, honoring the special gifts they bestow on their children, and their Love that never dies. | Nature Walk |
This design was a collaboration between South Carolina Artist, Gail S. Dedmond and myself. She did the painting of the little boy and sent it to me in Va. | Spring Dreams |
This is my most recent print. All winter long I dream about spring. I think of all of my bulbs lying dormant under the cold ground and I feel a sense of hope. In late February I’m out side searching for the first signs of those bulbs coming up from the ground. This ritual gets me through those dreary winter months. | Summer Breeze |
